I'm looking at a used Yaris around the 25k mark, mainly for school runs and groceries, and everyone keeps telling me an inspection is overkill for a car in that price range. Their logic is that even if something is wrong, the repair won't cost more than the inspection fee plus a bit, so why bother. I see their point but I've also been burned before with a car that seemed fine and then needed a gearbox rebuild two months later. I found a Helpful guide to warning signs in a used car inspection in Dubai and it listed a few things I would never have thought to check myself, especially the stuff you can't see just by looking at photos. Now I'm torn between saving a few hundred dirhams and protecting myself. For those who've bought cheaper used cars here, did you skip the inspection and regret it, or did you get one and find it was the best money you spent?
